PEOPLES' JUSTICE CALL FOR GATHERING DAY AFTER INDICTMENTS ARE UNSEALED

On Saturday, March 17th, 2007, hundreds of people gathered at Union Square at 12 NOON to demand community control and police accountability. We took the streets and marched down Broadway, stopping at the entrance to 1 Police Plaza and closing at City Hall. It was a powerful and beautiful display by our communities. (See pictures from Saturday's event)

As we all know, this struggle is far from over. We need to continue to show our strength and unity in demanding justice be served.

NYC - SATURDAY MARCH 17th 2007 IS THE DAY Print E-mail

WE ARE GATHERING SATURDAY AT 12 NOON

at UNION SQUARE (March 17 2007), NYC

SPREAD THE WORD - GET INVOLVED!

The NYPD's murder of Sean Bell and attempted murders of Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman are NOT isolated or random events. They represent the continued racial profiling of communities of color by the police and the lack of accountability for police misconduct and abuse. The grand jury made its decision in the Sean Bell case today, but the DA’s office has decided to wait until Monday to make a formal announcement. In spite of this, national media has already reported that there have been indictments of 3 of the 5 cops involved.

Gather at Union Square TOMORROW, SATURDAY MARCH 17, 2007 (12 NOON). Bear witness that justice be served for Bell, Benefield, Guzman and all those who have been killed and brutalized by the police.

PEOPLES JUSTICE COALITION Response to new witness!

It is outrageous and insulting that at this final hour, when a Queens Grand Jury is about to decided whether to indict the police officers who killed Sean Bell and attempted to kill his two friends, that the Detective Endowment Association and the Queens District Attorney would work in cahoots to destroy any possibility of the Bell family obtaining any kind of justice.
